Inspiration for Art

I believe we are all creators - after all we are made in the image of The Creator.

My first memory of desiring creation was around 5 years old when I asked for a sewing machine - to make dolls clothes - inspired by my mother who created my dresses from her old ones.

I lost the will for creativity in senior school when the art teacher only noticed the 'promising students' and I blamed her for a kiln failure that ruined a pot I was very proud of.

I always played with the sewing machine, fibre art and then fused glass art. I get very inspired by new bright shiny things!.

My husband is a professional artist and in truth I was never particularly inspired - although I have always loved art: then something stirred in me and I sold my glass studio and bought the Milan Art Institute Mastery Programme - and fell in love - especially with oils and gold leaf. The course is in depth, direct and suits my learning style - it was a big investment along with the materials. The course is designed to complete in one year but life got in the way and almost at the end of my third year and now preparing to graduate.

When I look at nature, through the eyes of an artist, I am beginning to see more clearly - to catch the light and shadow, the interplay of elements within nature and the colours - no longer does a crow look black - he looks like an iridescent rainbow.

Thank you for joining me on this magical journey.
